7:09 am - PiCon PSA

sylvari
Hello Everyone!

Hope you are all surviving the heat. I just wanted to take a moment to remind you of a couple of things. Pi-Con hotel reservations for the convention block close this Saturday! That means if you want to secure the $109+tax a night room rate you need to do it asap.

Also con memberships are $40 through August 19th and after that will be $50 at the door.

Please take a peek at our website for more details:

http://www.pi-con.org/index.php

There is a list of programming participants up as well as a tentative program schedule though I can tell you as the head of programming that some of the information has recently changed. But most of it is solid and should give you a good idea of what to expect this year which I think will be loads of fun.

I hope to see many of you there and as always let us know if you have any questions.

8:03 pm - Want to buy a nice Mac laptop?

recombatant
Or,

Know anyone that wants one?

I have a laptop 15" 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4, with 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM, 60 GB hard drive, Firewire, wireless enabled, Bluetooth, heck... the works. I paid around $3,500 for it new.

Pretty good deal for somebody.

Edit: Okay. I should have checked what these sell for before asking. How about $1000.00? Now that's a smokin' good buy.

9:37 pm - Adam's donation

layra
A friend of a friend is hoping for the help of strangers. And I know it takes a lot to ask anyone for anything....

"I visited my former roommate Adam at Bay State today. He is doing much better. He had a brain stem stroke in June, he is 34 years old. He can move his left hand, almost enough to give me the finger. I think he wanted to but couldn't quite pull it off. HA HA, asshole! He can also nod yes and no, which is enough to acknowledge letters on a letter board. He was nice enough to remind me to pay the gas bill, which is in his name.

Adam is headed for a rehab hospital in Atlanta, GA, which is one of the best in the world. His family doesn't know if they can pull off the huge tab for the hospital flight. Saturday there will be a benefit car wash at Woodward and Grinell, a a real estate agency on the corner of Damon Road and King Street in Northampton. If your car is dirty, or even if it isn't, you should stop by. The car washing stuff was all donated by his workplace, the Home Depot in Chicopee. All the proceeds will go toward his recovery.

Adam is a good man, an honest man, and a great friend to me. He does not deserve this. I can't wait until Adam can speak again. I told him this today and he nodded "Yes" emphatically. Please, if you have a dirty car, or even if you don't, come get it washed in Northampton Saturday. Feel free to forward this to anyone who might have a dirty car in western mass.

Thank you,
Phil"

I'm getting my car washed this Saturday. If you have a car, and can travel to Northampton this Saturday 08/09/2008...you should stop by and help a fellow human being and his family with their medical bills.

Or if you don't have a car and would still like to help, please feel free to donate whatever you can to my paypal address...

ALL donations will go directly to Adam and his family's cause. If you happen to donate after 08/09/2008, I'll still be able to deliver any extra donations to my friend Phil, who can then send the funds to Adam's family.

Thank you, for anything you can do. Hopefully a lot of people will have really dirty cars this Saturday.

:3

current mood: grateful

7:57 pm - Bridle Path

tmsk8r
I had this conversation with someone a few weeks ago, that we pretty much knew everyone from everywhere in chicopee, 'OH! THAT house is yours!', or whatever the shit.

anyways, neither of us know or have known anyone that lives on Bridle Path, so we decided that Bridle Path is manufactured by chicopee to be the place where rich people live, but nobody actually lives there...

so, does anyone live or know anyone that lives there? otherwise, i'm just going to assume we're correct.

2:13 pm - Be a hero

recombatant
The people of Myanmar, a southeast Asian country of about 50 million people that was formerly known as Burma, has been nearly destroyed by a massive, monster cyclone. These people need our help.

"The Myanmar government put its tally of deaths since Cyclone Nargis struck early Saturday at 22,500 and said 41,000 people were missing."

->EDIT:The news is now that there's over 100.000 (One-Hundred Thousand people) dead. And a million people in great distress. Oh God, please help.

Even a small percentage of that destruction would be awful. It's really terrible when you think that EACH of the dead and missing, affects the lives of many numbers of folks still alive. How many people's lives would be touched by YOUR death? 40 or 50 in all probability. That's at the very least.

About the cyclone...
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/07/world/asia/07myanmar.html

And... unless you're a super-hero and have your own rescue/relief gear (Like my Recombatants™) here's how to contribute...
http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/07/myanmar-disaster-relief-how-to-contribute/index.html

Want to feel good about yourself? Send these people $10. A little bit goes a long way. Do some good with that money for once. These people are suffering. Show them there's still hope and they aren't all alone in the world.

1:16 pm - Infinity Reference Series 4x6 Car Speakers for CHEAP!!!!!

sincethesunrise
I'm selling Infinity 4x6 car speakers, for more than half their original price. I bought these speakers after hearing them in a buddies car and unfortunately they don't fit mine. - Handles up to 135 watts peak power (45 watts RMS)
- 4" x 6" Plus One polypropylene woofer cones with rubber surrounds for increased bass and higher efficiency
- 1" edge-driven silk dome tweeters for accurate sound reproduction and higher power handling; unipivot design for a customized listening experience
- Built-in crossovers
- Plate design fits most factory locations
- Impedance: 2 ohms
- Cutout diameter: 5-3/8"
- Bottom mount depth: 2-3/16"
Get at me ASAP cause I'd like to get these off my hands. Here are some pictures, as you can see they're in perfect condition.

Hey yo, I'm selling an iPod and iHome together for 200 dollars (or best offer.) I need money for Christmas shopping and have no use for these.

The iPod is a 30GB, barely been used and doesn't have a lot of songs on it. It's all black, and so is the iHome. Both are in great condition. Here's a visual of the kind they are.

Close to 300 dollar value. The only thing missing are the USB cord and headphones. First come, first serve. If you need to see them in my possession, let me know and I can meet you and/or send you pictures.

10:13 am - Western MA PPD Today @ U/Mass Amherst

tehuti
Western MA Pagan Pride Day

Oct 13, 2007: 11AM to 6PM

For 2007, we are going to the campus of U/Mass Amherst! For many years, the WMPPD committee has had a close relationship with SPIRALS, the U/Mass pagan student group, and this year they have come though with a function space that will allow us to have our event, rain or shine. Last year, for the first time since 1999, there was no WMPPD, suffering our first ever rainout, so we have taken steps to insure that that can't happen this year!

WMPPD will be held in the Student Union Ballroom in the center of the campus. The main parking garage is nearby (there is a fee), but parking on campus in the numbered lots is free on weekends. Public transportation via the PVTA is very easy, as numerous buses run right through the heart of campus all day long.

Every year, WMPPD has featured a different group and/or tradition to facilitate the public ritual. This year, we are pleased to have representatives from numerous Heathen/Asatru Kindreds from all around New England coming to Pride! An ancestor blot is planned. Weather permitting, the ritual will be held outside.

A full schedule is also planned, including workshops, the ritual, and a special performance by Incus! Events begin at 11AM and run through 6PM.

As always, we will be collecting canned and dry goods for hunger relief. The last year we collected, the total amount came to just under 500 pounds, so our goal this year is to top that.

At the community table, we will be running our Tea Cup raffle. Many of our vendors will donate an item to the raffle, the poceeds of which will be used for next year’s event. Please check it out, right next to the donations table.

Here are a couple of pages with directions and information about Pagan Pride Day.

3:26 pm - Ultimate iPod shuffle blowout extravaganza supreme!

aubuchon
I own an 80gb iPod Classic.

So I'm selling my second gen iPod shuffle - I've had it for a year - lost it for a while (was in my couch) and then found it. So I didn't use it that much, near perfect shape. I have the original box - with all documentation and teh headphones. I'll include my keychain case thing (it's also a bottle opener!!) and my tiny usb adapter for it (it's way better than the dock).

So

iPod shuffle MSRP 79$
Mophie keychain case MSRP 15$
mini USB sync/charger MSRP 5$

I'm willing to part with all of this for about 40 bucks; It's in such good shape I can trick you into thinking it's brand new. (That's more than 50% off of MSRP!!)

I am willing to negotiate if you don't suck*

So act now while supply lasts.

*you probably suck.**

**not really.***

***yeah, really.
